In this motor capacitor is permanently connected in series with the auxiliary winding.
CAPACITOR RUN MOTOR
In this motor capacitor is permanently connected in series with the auxiliary winding. In this type, the centrifugal switch is not needed and therefore the cost of the motor is less. Fig 3.78 shows the schematic of capacitor run motor.
Speed-torque characteristic
Figure 3.79 shows the speed-torque characteristics of capacitor run motor.
The capacitor value is in the range of 20-50 μF. The capacitor is AC paper oil type. This motor have the following advantages
(i) high power factor at full load.
(ii) high full load efficiency
(iii) low full load line current
(iv) increased pull out torque ah
Characteristics
(i) The starting torque is 100% to 200% of the value.
(ii) The breakdown torque is upto 250%
(iii) The powerful factor of the motor is 0.75 to 0.9
(iv) The efficiency is 60 to 70%
(v) The power rating is to 1 HP.
