Applications of DC Generators
Shunt generators are used for supplying nearly constant loads. They are used for battery charging, for supplying the fields of synchronous machines and separately excited DC machines.

OF DC GENERATORS
Shunt
generators are used for supplying nearly constant loads. They are used for
battery charging, for supplying the fields of synchronous machines and
separately excited DC machines.
Series
generators are used as boosters for adding a voltage to the transmission line
and to compenstate for the line drop.
Cumulatively
compound generators maintain better voltage regulation and used where constant
of voltage is required like lamp loads etc. The differential compound generator
are widely used in arc welding.
